Flee From a Man Crooked in Speech

There seems to be a problem which is found in many people out there, who do not think before they speak. One who talks too much, even when it is not necessary is more likely to come to ruin. One wise author says ye thus: “No one is ever accused of listening too much but one who talks too much”. This does not mean you should not be talkative, for our personalities are different. It does not mean, that when you are quiet and hardly ever talk you are the good one. The main point here, refers to those are crocked in speech. To watch your mouth what it says, so you cannot bring yourself into ruin, neither talk at the expense of others and ruin their lives.

King Solomon said: “The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence”. What this mean, is flee from a man that utters nothing but folly and hatred, but holdfast to a man with words of understanding, sound instruction and advice. For what can you learn from a fool? For from a perverted mouth you will find no insight and acquire no good precepts.
When you meet a person, listen to him attentively; are words of righteousness ever cometh from his mouth, to lead you in righteous path and make you upright? Coming back to guiding your lips when you talk, if you guard your mouth you will preserve your life but if you open wide thy lips shall cometh into ruin. Have words that will make you upright, and walk in integrity. In other words, there are somethings which you can speak in some places, but cannot speak in some other places.

This does not mean, you have to be serious every time you speak but flee from crooked speech, talking which always breaks down and not build. Gossiping is good and sweet to hear, but a gossiper that always want you to turn your back on someone is evil and crooked in speech. A righteous mouth heals doesn’t break down; one who has such mouth is not a good associate. One who always breaks down and never build up with his lips, will come to destruction and it will be good for you to flee from him so you cannot be affected.
